W.D.F.F.

Whanqaehu

The October meeting of the Whangaehu W.D.F.F. was well attended, Mrs. Hawken presiding over 21 members. The meeting was held on the same evening as the Federated Farmers met and both organisations met together after their respective meetings for supper.

At the conclusion of the reading of the minutes of last meeting Mrs. Hawken reported that a large case of food for despatch to Britain had been handed over to th-j Red Cross Society.

It was decided that the branch should make a donation to the Hikurangi Appeal Fund and also that the usual yearly donations be made to the Rest Homes and Heritage. The Makogai Leper Mission Fund which each year receives a donation is this year to receive an increased amount. Mrs. Hawken thanked members for helping to make the 19th birthday of the branch the success it was. She mentioned that the proceeds from the “bring and buy” stall and compettiions had been very satisfactory. Arrangements in connection with the November Flower show were then finalised, stewards for the various sections being decided on and the schedules approved. It was agreed that the show should be open to all division members, neighbouring branches to be invited to attend and compete. To aid provincial funds it was decided to hold a bring and buy stall with Miss Baker in charge. This concluded the business of the evening and the ladies then served supper to the combined meetings.
