OHAKUNE The president, Mrs. Ellis, presided over a fair attendance at the monthly meeting. Birthday sprays and gifts from the birthday box were presented to members whose natal day was in October. The secretary’s resignation was received with Mrs. Bennett being appointed that position. Three new members were welcomed to the committee, Mesdames Harris, Smidt and Facey. International Day is to be celebrated at the November meeting, Mr. and Mrs. Adams to speak on England. The motto was given by Mrs. Lender), who also read ‘‘the Dominion president’s letter.” The roll call “a child’s funny saying,” brought a good response from all present. A ' collection was taken up for a parcel to be sent to a W.I. in England. Mrs. Lodge ably demonstrated the making of woolly toys and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The mystery parcel was won by Mrs. Peck. Competition winners for the month were: -Collection of bulbs, Mrs. Tocker; collection of polyanthus, Mrs. Austin; premier flower, Mrs. Austin; premier vegetable, Mis. Bergerson. Cooking, Mrs, Bergerson 1, Mrs. Hurley 2. Handwork, Mrs. Austin 1, Mrs. Weller 2, Mrs. Bergerson 3.
