Carpenters On Wharves Will Resume Today
WELLINGTON, Last Night (PA). —Wharf carpenters will return to work at 1 o'clock tomorrow. The carpenters’ delegate (Mr C. Teece) confirming this decision, said that a" meeting of carpenters tonight unanimously decided to resume. This decision follows a partial agreement reached this afternoon at a compulsory conference between the New Zealand Wateitnside Workers' Union and the New Zealand Port Employers’ Association. The carpenters are to receive 4s 3d an hour—the same rate as paid to watersiders—and it is intended that the claim for additional money for skill will be discussed at a conference of employers and workers' representatives and the Minister of Labour (Mr Sullivan) tomorrow.
