Wanganui Catholic Women’s League Sixth Birthday

A happy atmosphere prevailed at the meeting of the Wanganui Catholic Women’s League held recently when the sixth birthday of the Wanganui branch of the league was celebrated. Miss E. Roche presided. The Chaplain, Father J. Cullen, gave a brief talk to members on the definition of the Assumption Dogma. Mrs. Morrison, representing the League of Mothers and Mrs Williams, the P. and T. Social Club, expressed pleasure at being present at the function and tendered their best wishes for the future success of the league's activities. Songs were contributed by Mesdames Bellringer and McShane and Miss Stella Baughen. Mrs Larsen and Mrs Lenihan acted as accompanists. Competitions were won by Mrs J. Bergin and Miss F. McCullogh respectively. A community sing was held, after which the Birthday cake, which had been made by Mrs P. Luxford and Iced and decorated by Miss N. Luxlord, was cut and handed round. Mrs White did her usual brisk business at the Bring and Buy Stall.
