WANGANUI TO PLAY HUTT VALLEY IN HAWKE CUP MATCH

Advice that Wanganui has been drawn to play Hutt Valley in a Hawke Cup elimination cricket match was received at a meeting of the management committee of "the Wanganui Cricket Association on Monday night. The Wanganui Association will invite Hutt Valley to play on Cook’s Gardens either on December 8. 9 and 11, or December 15, 16 and 18. To assist in selecting the Central District’s Plunket Shield team a trial match between a Rangitikei-Wanga-nui-Taranaki combined team and a Manawatu-Hawke’s Bay - Wairarapa XI, will be played at Cook’s Gardens on November 19. This was reported to a meeting of'the Wanganui Cricket Association on Monday night. Messrs C. Cresswell, W. Ford and J. Timbs were appointed senior B selectors. A senior B representative match will be played with South Taranaki as soon as possible Following a recommendation from the senior B sub-cammittee it was decided that in future senior B matches no substitutes can be drawn from opposing teams, but teams short of players can call on substitutes from outside. The convener, Mr J. Timbs, reported that at a meeting to re-establish the Junior Advisory Board, Mr E. Kendall was appointed chairman.
