Jury Again Disagrees In Case Of Woman On Manslaughter Charge
AUCKLAND. Last Night (FA).— After a retirement of more than live hours, a jury in the Supreme Com? failed to agree at the retrial of Louisa Maria Clark, aged 63, widow, who was charged with unlawfully killing Mi's Joan Phyllis Jack on April thereby committiing manslaughter. Mr. Justice Callan made an order for a new trial on the application of the Crown. The hearing began on Wednesday Tlie Crown alleged that accused ha/ attempted to procure or was a party to attempting to procure the abortion of Mrs Jack, that, her actions were unlawful and. as Mrs Jack's death had ensued, accused was guilty of manslaughter.
