WANGANUI SESSIONS OF SUPREME COURT OPEN NEXT MONDAY MORNING
Three criminal trials are set down for the fourth quarterly sessions tor 1950 of the Supreme Court, Wanga-' nui, which open before Mr Justice Hay at 10.30 a.m. next Monday. There are also three prisoners for sentence. The list contains a miscellaneous as-: sortment of business, includ-ng ap-’ peals against sentence in the Magis-j terate’s Court, three matters under, the Family Protection Act, in which I further provision is sought from es- 1 tates, undefended divorces and other, matters. There are indications that, the sessions will extend into the second week. The list of business includes the following cases:— CRIMINAL For Trial William Henry Sedgman.—Alleged indecent assault on a female. Peter Ray Packer.—All ?ged breaking and entering and theft. James Baxter.—Alleged theft (two charges). For Sentence James Baxter.—Breaking, entering] and theft (two charges). Peter Ray Packer. -Breaking, en- 1 tering and theft (four charges). Donald John Taylor.— Breaking entering and theft (four charges). IN BANCO lan Clifford Pram. —Appeal against i sentence. Customs Revenue Customs revenue for the Port of I Wanganui last montn totalled about. I £50,000. General Customs has showed • a steady increase over the last three , months to reach £25,514 last month, ' while sales tax and petrol tax remained fairly steady. Last month the former totalled £23,533 and the latter . £lO,OlB. I
