The Minister of External Affairs (Mr. D/iidge) is due back in New Zealand tomorrow by air. Aiderman O’Dea, Lord Mayor of Sydney, arrived in Wellington yesterday by air. He will return to Sydney by air from Auckland tomorrow. Mr. C. E. Taylor, of Wellington, has been elected president, of the Junior Chambers of Commerce at the convention being held at Christchurch. Mr. 11. D. Cooper has been appoined a member of the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board as a representative of the stock and staticn agents. Dr. J. T. Salmon, a lecturer at Victoria University College, will shortly leave New Zealand to do a year’s research in the United Kingdom under a Nuffield Research Scholarship. Major General R. L. Brown, Direc-tor-General of the Ordnance Survey of Great Britain, arrived in Wellington this week by the Dominion Monarch. He is to take part in a conference between British Commonwealth and (United Stales survey authorities. Piolessor E. Beaglehole, who holds the chair of psychology at Victoria University College, has been granted leave of absence to visit La Paz in Bolivia on International Labour Organisation work. The Under Secretary of the Department of Internal Affairs (Mr. A. G. Harper) left by air yesterday for Sydney on the first leg of bis journey to Buckingham Palace where ho is to discurs details of the Royal Tour of New Zealand in 1952.
