FELLOW MILKMEN FINE MEMBER FOR DELIVERING MILK TOO EARLY

LONDON, Sept. 21 (Reed, (i p.m.)—Jack Cohen, a Stepney milkman, who was reported by a union official for delivering milk before 7.30 a.m.. lias been fined £2 by the Stepney branch of the Transport and General Workers’ Union. Cohen said he knew housewives liked to set their milk early and he, had accordingly tried to help them. The union’s objection to early deliveries is that if they are generally revived milkmen may be forced to do two rounds a day instead of one. The Ministry of Labour, three months ago, withdrew a ban on retail deliveries of milk before 7.30 a.m. Cohen was told that if he of’fended again he would be fined £5 and that any further breach of union discipline would be met by expulsion.—NZPA Special.
