TRAINING PERIOD FOR NURSES REDUCED
PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Last Night (PA).—Periods of training for certain classes of nurses are reduced by three months, and in the case of nursing aids, by six months, under an amendment to the Nurses and Midwives Regulations, published tonight. In the case of general nurses who train as psythiatric nurses, the period of training is reduced by one year, with power for the Nurses and Midwives Board to grant concessions. By the amendment th e period of training for general nurses is reduced from three years and three months to three years, and in (lie case of nursing aids from two years to 18 months. Alterations are also made in the training syllabuses lor nurses and a further provision it; the amendment, is designed to clarify the duties of midwives and maternity nurses; both in private practice and in public hospitals and institutions. In appropriate cases the Nurses and Midwives Board »may approve of two or more hospitals under the control of one governing body as a training school for nurses or male nurses.
