ANNUAL MEETING OF WANGANUI EAST LAWN TENNIS CLUB HELD
The report which was adopted at the annual meeting of the Wanganui East Lawn Tennis Club held this week, stated that the club had a successful and enjoyable 1949-50 season. Teams were entered in the three grades of the inter-club competition and all performed creditaly. In the Wanganui Lawn Tennis Association's junior championships a. Audrey won the boys’ singles under 18 and G. E. Evernden and J. Burston won the boys’ doubles under 18. The membership of the club increased considerably during the season, and many of the new members showed up as promising players. Nine courts were in operation during the season and an additional one has been prepared for use this season. The report thanked the club members for their valuable assistance and cooperation in clearing the ground for a parking area and improving the ground in general. Financially the past season had been most successful and as a result the club is now in a position to carry out much-needed repairs and maintenance. The following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr E. Walpole; president, Mr A Burston; club captain, Mr G. Well wood; vice-captain, Mr. d. Aubrey; secretaiy, Miss A. Wills; treasurer, Mr R. Stevens; delegates to the Wanganui Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs. J. Tremain and R. Green; committee, Mesdames Wilson and Evernden, Misses J. Holdaway and B. Alexander, Messrs. J. Wilson, N. Anderson, B. Harkness, R. Green, J. Myers.
