SURVEY OF N.Z.’S HOUSING NEEDS IS NOW UNDER WAY
A survey of the Dominion’s housing requirements was now being carried out, and when it was completed further contracts for State houses would be let, Mr E. B. Gordon, M.P. for told a meeting of members of the Rangitikei branch of the National Party at Feilding this week. Mr Gordon said that applications for State houses in country areas had not been as heavy as was expected. It was known that lack of accommodation in the country areas deterred men from seeking farm employment. The Government was prepared to build houses in the country, and Federated Farmers and groups ot farmers prepared to guarantee the rent should advise the Government of their requirements, he said.
