Rangitikei Women’s Hockey Team Narrowly Beaten At N.Z. Tourney
CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night (PA) —Twenty-eight teams took part in the opening matches of the New Zealand women's hockey tournament, which opened at Christchurch yesterday. Teams from the major associations compete for the K Cup and those from the minor associations for the Mills Cup, at present held by Wairarapa. Results:— K Cup, First Round. Section A: Eastern Southland 2, Rangitikei 1; Canterbury B 7, Waikato 1; Wellington 4, Auckland Country 0. Section B: Auckland Town 6. Otago 3; Wellington B 3, Ashburton 1; Canterbury A 6, Wairarapa 1. Mill Cup, First Round. Section A: Buller 5, North Otago 2; Wairarapa 5, Horowhenua 1; Canter-bury-Malvern B 3, South Otago 2. Section B: Eastern 6, Marlborough 0; South Canterbury 10, Ashburton 2; Bush A a bye. Section C: Canterbury 1. Maniototo 1; Canterbury-Malvern A 7, Southland 0; West Coast a bye.
