U.S. Accepts Turkey’s Offer To Send Force Of 4500 to Korea
WASHINGTON, Aug. 18.—The United States today accepted Turkeys' offer to send a combat force of 4500 men to Korea. The Turkish offer was the third to be formally accepted by the United States. Siam’s offer to send 4000 officers and men was formally accepted earlier this week, as was a Philippine offer of about 5000 men. Mr. Michael McDermott, a State Department Press officer said the United States had also ‘'accepted in principle" the offers of ground troops from Britain, New Zealand and Australia.
