H. Hopper Wins Harriers’ Whitlaw Cup Race
Feature of the Wanganui Harrier Club’s senior 6J-mile race for the Whitlaw Cup on Saturday was the grand run by the scratch man, H. Hopper. After giving away handicaps up to 12 minutes, Hopper mowed down the field to win in the very good time of 35min. 45see. Placings in the senior race were: H. Hopper, 35min. 45sec., 1; L. O'Connell. 48.35, 2; B. Holly, 45.35, 3. The club’s juniors held a trophy race over three and a-half miles, P. Jackson was the winner, with L. Moodie second and K. Beifit third. Beifit also returned the best.time of 26min. ssec.
