1 SYDNEY, Aug. 16 (Reed. 11 p.m.)— Flood waters in northern New South Wales have begun to fall in the northern areas, but continue to rise further south. ! At. Walgett people are herded on to j a strip of land 400 yards by <3OO yards. : protected only by a hastily built wall I which the male members of the population are trying to keep intact. OutIside the wall are 20 square miles of I flood waters. | Sydney today experienced the first ! fine Sunday for many weeks, and !people flocked outdoors to enjoy the sunshine. The westerly wind, howlever, was bitterly cold.
