Equal Franchise In Honey Board Election

PARLIAMENT BLDGS., July 20. The Honey Marketing Committee Regulations, 1948, amendment No. 2, gazetted tonight gave effect to a specific request put forward recently by the 1950 conference of the National Beekeepers’ Association, said the Minister of Marketing (Mr. Holyoake). ‘lhe franchise for the purchasers of seals and the suppliers of honey to the Marketing Department has now been placed on an equal basis for the election of a producers’ representative on the Honey Marketing Committee,” added the Minister. He said the rolls for the 1950 election, which would be available for inspection on July 26, would be compiled on a new basis. "The amendment meets a long-felt want in the honey industry that there should be equal franchise in the election of producer representatives,” said the Minister.
