SUPER FORTRESS RAIDS ON NORTH KOREAN

TARGETS EFFECTIVE

TOKIO, July 21 (Recd 11.47 pm).— Air photographs revealed that the Superfortress raid on July 16 brought the Seoul marshalling yards to a virtual standstill. A locomotive and railroad car manufacturing plant was also heavily damaged. Superfortress bombers yesterday struck at North Korean airfields, and bridges in sweeps as far north as Pyongyang. The airfields were hit with god results and one span was knocked out on the mainline railroad bridge south of Pyongyang. Poor flying weather restreted fighter operatons but more than 100 sorties were flown. Pilots reported damaging attacks on numerous vehicular targets and ground installations during the day. Claims by fighters included damage to 10 tanks, 36 trucks and 26 miscellaneous vehicles. Shooting Star jetfighters shot down two Yak fighters in the Taejon area. Superfortress bombers damaged two enemy Yak fighters near Pyongyang.
