MARCHING FILM SCREENED; VALUE OF THE SPORT STRESSED
Under the auspices of the Wanganui Marching Association, which is affiliated with the New Zealand Marching Association (Wellington), a technicolour film, “The Sport of Marching,” was screened last night in the Savage Club Hall in the presence of a large attendance. The film d-epicted the story of a girl who joins a marching team and her training until she takes part with her team in a New Zealand champ onship. During the evening Mr. D. A. Almond briefly addressed the gathering, and said it was encouraging to see such a representative attendance. He stressed the value of inarching as a sport, and said that. Wanganui had founded the sport, which had spread rapidly in all parts of the Dominion. Every effort was being made to revive the sport to its former prmnenee in the city, and he urged thou? interested to attend the annual meeting of the association, to bo held on Monday, July 31, when officers would be elected for the new season.
