T. Goldsmith Nominated For Maori All Blacks
Thomas Goldsmith, the Wanganui and Rangitikei wing three-quarter, has been nominated by the Wanganui Rugby Union’s Maori delegate, Mr. R. Tapa, of Ranana, for selection in the New Zealand Maori team to play the British Isles at Wellington on August 2. A member of the Marton Old Boys Club, Goldsmith first represented Wanganui in 1948 and played against Manawatu at Palmerston North, North Auckland at Wanganui, and Taranaki at New Plymouth. Although he missed the first two representative games of last season, that against Taranaki at Wanganui and Manawatu at Wanganui, Goldsmith played in the remaining nine games of the representative season. He appeared for Wanganui against South Canterbury at Wanganui. Southland at Wanganui, Otago at Wanganui, King Country at Otorohanga, North Auckland at Dargaville, Auckland at Auckland, Manawatu at • Wanganui, Bush at Pahiatua, and | Taranaki at New Plymouth. At Spriggens Park on King’s Day, Goldsmith played a good game against Taranaki, scoring a try.
