Wanganui Rhodes Scholar And Wife Meet Princess
Among the guests at an informal tea party given by the Master Grocers’ Association recently in London, and at which Princess Margaret was the guest of honour, was Mr R. W. Burchfield, of Wanganui, 1949 Rhodes Scholar, and his wife. Princess Margaret moved round informally among the guests, who were all American and Dominion Rhodes Scholars and. students and their wives. Mr. and Mrs. Burchfield were fortunate to be among those presented to the Princess, who spoke very warmly of Oxford, which she described as "a lovely place," and said she was looking forward very much to her forthcoming visit in 1952 to New Zealand with the King and Queen.
