ASHBURTON, Last. Night. (PA). — The Ashburton Trotting Club s winter meeting opened in threaten ng weather yesterday but conditions later improved. The track *was in good order. There was a large attendance, and the totalisator handled £50,775, against £63,946 10s on the first day last year. The doubles totalisator handled £3787. The winning double, Kublai Khan (coupled with Te Arawhata) and Realm Again and Empire Lady paid £59 19s for £l. An Inquiry was held after the last, race into alleged interference with Trouville by Scotch Drift, but the judges placings were not altered. ’However, R. G.
