Fishing Boat Wrecked Off Taieri Bar, But Both Occupants Safe
DUNEDIN, Saturday (PA). The fishing launch Elf was wrecked off the Taieri mouth bar yesterday. Although the two owners were thrown into a heavy sea, they were picked up soon after by another fishing vessel, none the worse for their experience. Owned by Messrs Johnson and Robertson, the Elf was going to sea when it encountered heavy seas at the bar. Large waves damaged the front of wheelhouse and the vessel quickly filled with water. The overturned craft came ashore at the Taieri mouth but was later washed away by the tide and has not been seen since.
