Small Yarding Meets With Keen Demand At Wanganui Sale

Store Lamb Values Rocketed At Stortord Lodge Sale

HASTINGS, Last Night (PA).—Store lamb values rocketed by 4s a head today at Stortford Lodge. Farmers were operating with renewed confidence after the recent warm rains. Bidding was spirited throughout. Other classes of sheep shared with lambs in the keen inquiry. The yarding of 3100 head was insufficient for the demand. As a result it was a sellers’ market. Good shorn wetter lambs sold at up to 455. Shorn wether lambs ranged from 40s 3d to 455, medium 36s Bd, small 26s to 325, Down cross lambs 34s 7d to 42s 7d, cull ewe lambs 34s lOd to 38s. Forward conditioned wethers were 60s 4d, two-tooths 47s 3d to 54s 9d. Breeding ewes were in short supply. Five-year-olds made 38s 8d to 50s, mixed-aged lines 38s lOd to 41s 4d, fattening ewes 19s lOd to 26s lid. A steady inquiry for store cattle existed. Values firmed, particularly for anything showing a bit of condition.
