HIGH WOOL VALUES MAINTAINED AT THE CHRISTCHURCH SALE

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night (PA) —The fourth and final Christchurch wool sale of the 1949-50 season was held today before a large bench of buyers. Compared wjth the last Christchurch sale, held on March 31, merinos were 3d to 4d a lb dearer. Fine halfbreds and halfbreds from 3d to 4d a lb dearer. Fine crossbreds from 5d to 8d dearer. These latter wools fully reflected the price increase that has taken place in recent North Island sales, and if anything were a fraction firmer. Lambs’ wool met very keen competition and prices here increased on the March Christchurch rates from lOd to 12d. Halfbred pieces sold very well and were 4d a lb dearer. There was only a small offering of hogget wools and these did not participate to the same extent in the general price rise. Following Is the official range of prices:—
