POLICE-INSPECTOR W. J. K. BROWN TAKES UP DUTY IN WANGANUI

Inspictor W. J. Brown, recently promoted to the charge of the Wanganui Police District, commenced his duties yesterday. He succeeds Inspector F. Fuistythe, who retired recently. Joining the Police Force in 1919, Inspector Brown was stationed in Wellington for 14 years, after which period he was constable in charge at Hunterville. Returning to Wellington, he was promoted sergeant. After a period of duty in Auckland he was transferred to Wanganui about 1941. After 11 months duty here, he was transferred to Hokitika, where he was promoted to the rank of Senior Sergeent. The next transfer was to New Plymouth, and then back to Wellington, where he was promoted to Sub-Inspec. tor. a position he has filled at the Central Station in that city until his promotion to Wanganui.
