Maori Vested Lands Commission To Sit In Wanganui On May 16

The Minister of Maori Affairs (Mr. Corbett) announced yesterday that Judge G. Dalglish, of the Arbitration Court, has been appointed chairman of two Royal Commissions in succession to the late Sir Michael Myers, who died recently. One of lhe commissions has to consider problems arising from compensation clauses in leases of lands vested in the Maori Land Boards and the other is concerned with four separate unrelated claims by. Maoris in respect of certain blocks of Maori land. The vested lands commission will begin its sittings at Wanganui on Tuesday, May 16. Messrs. R. Ormsby and H. M. Christie are the other members of the commission. The land to be dealt with by the commission is in various blocks on the Parapara Road around Ohakune, and through to Pipiriki and along the Wanganui River.
