This event will be followed by a £75 trophy shoot (20 birds, five prizes). Sweepstakes will follow if there is time. The referee today at Ohotu and tomorrow at Ohingaiti will be Mr. Ivan Sutherland. Light refreshments will' be available on the ground of both clubs. The president of the Taihape Club is Mr. D. Missen and the secretary, Mr. J. F. Thurston. The president of the Ohingaiti Gun Club is Mr. R. Craig, and the secretary Mr. H. W. McGuckin. PARKS AND RESERVES. The report of the superintendent of Parks, Mr. E. Henham, on work carried out during the past month, reads as follows: “Owing to the continued dry weather and lateness of the season, the mowing of lawns, etc., has to be done less frequently than earlier in tne season, leaving more time for other work. “Camp site: The camp site is still being patronised and is visited twice daily. The grounds are in good order, having been grazed at intervals with sheep. The buildings are in good order with the exception of two bi Orien windows.

“Playground: The playground is still visited regularly and dressing sheds cleaned out. The Rotary Club has completed the paddling pool and it looks an excellent job. Fencing has yet to be done around this job and last month I quoted approximately £3O for a fence close up to the concrete work. The Rotary Club now asks for a lawn 15 feet on both ends of the pool and 10 feet on the river side, adding an extra 25 yards of fencing and adding approximately £lO to the work. “Oval Domain: The Oval Domain was mown prior to St. Patrick’s sports and it is not intended to mow the grounds again prior to football starting. Minor repairs were done after the sports. A strainer and two posts have been renewed on the hockey ground. A boulder was sunk and pipes put in to drain hydrants for fire brigade demonstrations. The baths were closed on March 27 and were left in a very clean condition. The row of trees from the Oval gates to the baths have been "cleaned around and restaked. Broken lavatory pan necessitated closing portion of the conveniences at the Oval. “General: A start has been made with the clearing of section adjoining the railway station. A start has also bee n made filling the section on the town side of the Kiwi Road bridge. This will be done as spoil is available. Two street frontages have been completed. Sixty posts have been split and stored, also some blocks for the electricity department and a load of wood for the abattoir. I would like permission to dismantle the children's dressing sheds (mostly wet weather work). If this was done reasonably early it would leave ample time for the erection of a new building before n ext season. The approximate cost of putting a weir across the river at the bottom end of the playground would be £2O to £2s.’’ ANZAC DAY.

Arrangements for Anzac Day will be similar to those of last year. Returned servicemen will hold a Dawn Parade as usual, and a party of R.S.A. members will visit the- cemetery to pay tribute to the memory of their comrades who lie at rest in the soldiers’ plot. citizens' service will be held in the Town Hall at 2.30 pm.
