WELLINGTON, Last Night (OC)— Climatological records for Wanganui which are published in tonight’s Gazette state that the area experienced the wettest February for many years, and the rainfall on February 9—3.76 inches—was the highest daily total for more than 76 years.
Reference to Marton flooding last month might appear to those who suffered from its effects as somewhat a cursory statement, and the event is dismissed simply as “local flooding near Marton. ’
Wanganui did not have a great deal of sunshine in February. The records show the monthly total of 199.5hr5, compared with Blenheim's 265.4rh5, which was the highest for the Dominion.
