WESTPORT, Last Night (PA).— Despite scattered rain last night and during today the Westport Trotting Club opened its annual meeting after a postponement yesterday. Despite the unfavourable weather the track was in good order and there was a fair crowd. The totalisator handled £20,209, compared with £26,413 10s last year. On.the double totalisator 756 ten-shilling, tickets were purchased on the first "leg” winner of the Westport Handicap, Springbok, but only 753 were handed in on the second "leg,” the Gothard Handicap, won by Almeta. The dividend was £2O 5s for £1 The winner of the final event, 'True Comrade, paid £lO9 14s 6d on the win machine. Results: Pain Handicap, of £200; one mile five furlongs.—l/1 Forest Lady (J. D.
