Perfect Weather. Perfect summer weather, with warm day temperatures, have prevailed in Wanganui and district this week. Yesterday was another day of brilliant sunshine in the morning, with clouds in te afternoon. Thei’e was a light westerly breeze. Though the days have been very warm this week, night and early morning temperatures have been surprisingly cool.
Christmas in Port. At least one coastal trader is likely to spend Christmas at Wanganui. She is the s.s. Holmlea which loads 800 tons of coal at Greymouth today and is expected to sail tonight. If this schedule is maintained the vessel shoud arrive at Castlecliff on Christmas Day. Work on the waterfront at all ports ceases at noon today till Wednesday of next week, so that any vessels arriving on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day will be in port over the long week-end.
Wool Ships Loading. Making every effort to clear the stores as much as possible before the Christmas holidays, wool ships have been loading at Wanganui daily this week, most of the bales being for export after disposal at the first Wanganui wool sale of the season early in December. Vessels which loaded earlier this week were the Gale and Holmburn, the latter being due back on the early tide this morning for a further load. The Storm, which brought southern cargo to the Town Wharf, is loading wool today for Wellington. The Gale was also due back before the holidays, but has been delayed by a shortage of labour in Wellington.
