Trainers’ Points Prize At Marton Meeting
Trainers with teams racing at the Marton Jockey Club’s summer meeting, to be held on Monday and Tuesday, January 2 and 3, will have as incentive a points prize amounting to £25, that sum having been donated by a supporter of the club. The prize will be awarded to the trainer gaining most points for horses running first, second or third at the meeting. Principal event at the meeting is the Marton Cup, which carries a stake of £l2OO, and the Aidworth Stakes on the second day will be worth £9OO. The open sprints are the seven furlong McManaway Memorial (£500) on the opening day and the six-furlong Telegraph Handicap (£450) on the second day. Hacks are well catered for at the meeting, included being the New Year Hack Handicap (£400) and the Rangitikei Hack Cup (£600). There will' be a highweight event the first day and a hurdle race on the second. Nominations for all events close at 5 p.m. next Monday.
