JERUSALEM TO BE THE CAPITAL OF ISRAEL INSTEAD OF TEL AVIV

LONDON, Dec. 14 (Recd. 8 p.m.)— The “Daily Telegraph’s” Tel Aviv correspondent reports that the Israel Parliament on December 13 decided to transfer the seat of Government from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The move is being made to forestall the application of the United Nations decision in favour of the internationalisation of Jerusalem. The Speaker, Mr. Joseph Springzak, announced that alter the Feast of the Lights, ending on December 24, sittings of Parliament would take place in Jerusalem, which was to be officially the capital of the State. The Israeli Prime Minister, Mr. Ben-Gurion, tabled a resolution before Parliament saying that the capital of Israel had been Jerusalem for 3000 years. At the proclamation of the State of Israel in May, 1948, it was stated that Tel Aviv was only the temporary capital.
