Too Much Work On Farms For Farmers To Attend Wanganui Stock Sale
I Seasonal work is keeping many I farmers employed on their farms, with the result that the attendance at Freeman R. Jackson and Co.’s Wanganui sale yesterday was small. An average entry ct sheep and cattle sold at rates on a par with recent fixtures. The pig entry was the best yarded , at recent sales and sold well. Weaner I pigs, which were in short supply, | made extreme prices. Prices realised were:— Sheep: Fat overweight ewes, 25s to j 265; fat 2-tooth wethers, to 40s 6d; I Down cross to 40s 7d; good 2-tooth ' wethers, 39s 2d to 39s 6d, small 365. Cattle: Lightweight P.A. bullocks, £l9 10s; fat P.A. cows, £l4 10s; fat 1
\ and forward P.A. heifers, £l4 10s; , prime Jersey cows to £l2; good boners 1 £7 7s 6d to £8 ss, average £3 7s 6d to J | £5 7s 6d; Jersey cows, close to profit, . ’£l2 to £l3 10s; sound Jersey cows, (spring calvers, £8 17s Gd; Jersey heifjers to £lO 17s 6d. | Vealers:: Runners, £7 15s to £9; ■ good vealers, £5 5s to £6 15s; light vealers, £3 12s 6d to £4; calves, £2 to £3 10s, !
