Karori School Children Visit Hunterville Some 40 pupils from the Karori School, Wellington, were given a warm welcome by their hosts when they arrived in Hunterville recently on a short visit to the district. It a!t» provided an opportunity of renewing friendships formed when the Hunterville children were the guests of ths Karori pupils last August. The visitors were met at the station, and before leaving for their respective homes the headmaster, Mi R. W. Hamlyn, called upon the chairman of the Town Board, Mr R. A. Gordon, to speak on behalf of the citizens of Hunterville and also the Rev. R. W. Culpitt to speak on behalf of the school committee, the latter deputising for the chairman, Mr S. C. Coleman. Both speakers wished the children a happy time during their stay in the country. The headmaster, Mr W. J. Melody, in replying, said they were overwhelmed with the warmth of the welcome. Mr R. H. Thompson and Miss B. Hall, of the Karori School staff, were in charge of the pupils. The children spent one day in Marton and a party was shown through Henderson’s flour mill. They were most interested in the various processes through which the grain passes before it is ready to be sold as flour in the shops. The by-products wer« also of great interest. A visit was later made to the Chenille Tufting factory, where the children saw the process of making various articles for household use and for wearing, with patterns ot different designs worked on them.
