Playing its first inter-club match of the current the Marton Lawn Tennis Club scored a very comfortable victory overtWanganui East at Marton during tm week-end. Mail arrangements hours to be observed by the Marton Post Oflice during the Christmas and New Year holiday period were announced yesterday by the postmaster, Mr. G. E. Mitchell. All branches of the Post Office (excluding the telephone Exchange, which will be open continuously) will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, December 26 and 27 and there will be no mail deliveries on either day. On December 27, mails will close at 7.30 a.m, for the railway travelling post ofces north and south, North Wanganui, Palmerston North and Wellington. There will be a clearance of street receivers at 6 a.m. The same arrangements ap_ply for Monday, January 2 and Tuesday, January 3 as for December 26 and 27. On Friday, December 23 and December 30, the usual hours of attendance will be observed at the Post Office, including the normal Friday evening attendance at the money-or-der and savings-bank counters.

On Saturday, December 24 and 31, the normal Saturday hours of attendance will be observed, including postmen’s deliveries. There will also be a delivery of mail by the rural contractors.
