COMMUNISTS MAY LOSE CONTROL OF MINERS’ FEDERATION

SYDNEY, Nov. 16 (Recd. 9pm).— The Communists may lose control of the Miners’ Federation as a result of a major reverse in the Northern New South Wales ballot for official positions. Labour supporters soundly defeated the leftists in ballots for Central Council membership and tor continued affiliation with the Labour Party. The northern miners elected three moderates and one left-winger to represent them on the Central Council and voted 4618 to 3040 for affiliation with the Labour Party. The northern New South Wales mining district is the largest and strongest in Australia.
