Waterfront Commission Gives Decision On Non-Union Labour
WELLINGTON, Last Night (P.A.) A ruling that non-union labour employed by shipping companies at Wellington must be engaged by the Commission’s Labour Engagement Bureau was contained in a decision o£ the Waterfront Industry Commission issued today. This decision supports the claim entered by 'the Waterside Workers' Union in the dispute which arose recently on the Wellington water front.
! The Commission adds a provision [that where no non-union labour is available at the place of engagement, the bureau may authorise the employment of a ship’s crew within the hours of call.
