Reverse For Labour In House Of Lords
LONDON, Nov. 3.—The Laboui Government was defeated by 166 votes to 29 in the House of Lords tonight. The defeat was on a Government motion asking for approval of its £280,000,000 economy cuts. Lord Salisbury, Leader of th e Opposition in the Lords, where the Conservatives have a b>g majority, said tl-.at the British Government todayinspired confidence neither at Home nor abroad. The Minister of Civil Aviation. Lord Pakenham. said there would be no change in the Government's policy.
