Castlecliff-Gonville

A happy afternoon was spent at the monthly meeting of the guild, held this week in the Scout Hall, Swiss Avenue, Gonville. Mrs. M. Cameron presided and welcomed members and visitors, including Mrs. Denman, Mrs. Tipper and Mrs. Symons, who were the artists for the day. Mrs. Grant, Mrs. Cann and Mrs. Denman were welcomed as new members. Roll call was •‘fillings for sandwiches and savouries. The “best bloom’’ competition was judged by Mrs. Tipper and Mrs. Symons and resulted, Mrs. Cameron 1, Mrs. Paul 2. A general knowledge quiz, arranged by Mrs. Cameron and Mrs. Norman was won by Mrs. Gilliver. Mrs. Tipper and Mrs. Symons contributed a bracket of vocal duets which were much enjoyed. Mesdames Ross, Andrews and Davis were hostesses at afternoon tea. Mrs. Taylor was in charge ol the bring and buy stall which did a brisk business during the tea break. Mrs. Denman demonstrated the icing of a Christmas cake which attracted interested attention. The open competition for December will be a floral bonbon. Shoulder sprays were presented to the artists by the president and the singing of the N.Z. Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
