Glasgow Eagle Scouts’ Gala Raises £85 10s
Despite the unfavourable weather on Saturday there was a very large attendance at the Scout gala, held in their grounds, George Street, AraAramoho. The Mayor (Hon. W. J. Rogers, MLC.) opened the function, and other speakers were Commissioner Hallas, and the chairman, Mr. F. Wilson, who welcomed the visitors. Goods on the well-laden stalls found ready purchasers. In the evening a bonfire and camp fire attracted a big crowd. Those attending were served a supper of pies and saveloys by the ladies’ committee, which was no sma.l task. After supper dancing was held in the hall. Mrs. Bowyer and her Girl Guides were in attendance. Competitions for the best, bunch of flowers and best Guy Fawkes were won by Margaret Schmidt and Terry Boyle, respectively. The gala realised the sum of £B5 10s.
