Land Committee Ruling Ends Effort Of D.I.C. To Extend To Hamilton
DUNEDIN. Last Night (PA).— “When legislation blocks commercial expansion in this fashion, it Purely goes far beyond what is sensible and reasonable.” said Mr. J. M. Paterson, Chairman of Directors of the D.LC. Ltd., when telling the shareholders at the annual meeting this afternon that the Land Valuation Committee had not approved a contract price for a Hamilton property purchase. The company had contracted to buy property so that it could expand its business to Hamilton, but the price had been reduced to a figure at which the vendor was very understandably not willing to complete the deal. “The D.LC. is deprived of what we felt sure would have been a profitable expansion of our business, and (Hamilton loses a worthwhile addition to its commercial life,” said Mr. Paterson.
