RUSSIAN GENERAL TO SERVE POLAND
LONDON, Nov. 7 (Recd. 6 p.m.) The Moscow radio announced today that Marshal Konstantin Rokossovsky, who was one of Russia’s foremost wartime commanders, has been placed at the disposal of the Polish Government. Marshal Rokossovsky will serve in the Polish Army. Poland’s President- Boleslaw Beirut, asked for Rokossovsky because of his
Polish origin and popularity among Polish people. Rokossovsky first, came into prominence in 1941 when he recaptured, at Stalin's direct orders, the town ot Istra during lhe German attack on Moscow. He was one of the generals who had a command during the defeat of the German armies outside Stalingrad.
