France Seems Ready For An Understanding With Germany
LONDON, Nov. 7 (Rec 6 pm).— "The Times” Paris correspondent says that. French public opinion is on the whole ripe tor an understanding with Germany provided the understanding involves a sufficient number- of friendly sympathetic Powers to prevent the development of German preponderance. Even on the issue of dismantling, the average Frenchman is inclined to admit, perhaps regretfully, that the day for that sort of thing is past. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from its head downwards, would probably agree that on policy grounds alone dismantlings had best be dropped—to judge from the way they have not. been carried out in the French zone.
