FIRE BRIGADE MAKES GOOD SAVE IN CITY OUTBREAK LAST NIGHT
Fire gutted the contents of the Workshop in the upstairs portion of he plumbing premises of Taylors Wd., Taupo Quay, last night, but effluent work by the Wanganui Fire brigade, under Deputy Superintendent Brown, made a good save. The brigade received the alarm at 10.58 p.m., and on arrival flames were bursting through the skylight and through the windows ot the top floor of one portion of the building. The fire being in the city area, two machines from the Central Station and an engine from Castlecliff Station responded to the call. Two leads of hose soon had the outbreak under control, and damage was confined to the upper portion, where the fire had originated. The damage downstairs was confined to water coming through the saturated top floor.
Insurances were not available last night, and no esitmate of the damage was ascertainable.
