WANGANUI NOMINEE FOR ROTARY FELLOWSHIP; MISS K. O’TOOLE

Armstrong at yesterday s meeting of the Wanganui Rotary Club. The Rotary Foundation Fellowships were established as a memorial to the late Paul Harris, the founder of the Rotary Movement. Their purpose is to assist in the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and

peace, by providing young men and women with an opportunity to do advanced study m a country other than their own.

Miss O’Toole is an old girl of the Wanganui Girls’ College, and is a memoer of the teaching staff. She studied for four years at Otago University and graduated Bachelor of Home Science. In addition to an excellent academic career, Miss O’Toole played her full part in the activities of the university and was awarded her “Blue” for hockey. She has represented New Zealand Universities at hockey as well as Otago and Wanganui. A powerful swimmer, sh e is holder of the Bronze Medallion and bars for Life Saving. Another interest which claimed Miss O’Toole’s interest was guiding. She has been a member of the Girl Guide Movement for 11 years and is leader of the Girls’ College Company. She is president and selector of the Wanganui Women’s Hockey Association. Miss O’Toole was a Wanganui nominee for the “Miss New Zealand” Quest, was among the finalists and won high commendation.
