FURTHER INCREASE IN STERLING FUNDS
A further increase in sterling funds of £358,694 during the preceding week is revealed by the Reserve Bank statement for October 26, the figure at that dak being £42.115,896. In the same period the note issue rose from £52,435,855 to 52,661,879. The assets and liabilities of the bank as at October 26,, with the weekly averages of 1939 and 1948, were as follows:
