Call For State Loan To Aid Film Industry
LONDON, Nov. 4.—The leader of the Film Workers’ Trade Union. Mr Tom O'Brien, called today for a Government loan of £20.000,0*00 to set the 'British film industry on its feet. A further 130 film '. orkers today joined the 1500 who have been thrown out of work this year by the crisis in jthe industry. Difficulty in finding i financial backers for new British productions is at the root of lhe crisis. ■ The political correspondent of the | “Evening News” says the crisis in the film industry has reached a stage when the Government cannot long delay considering what further can bo done to save the industry from threatened collapse.
