QUICK MARCH FANCIED FOR ALISON CUP AT ELLERSLIE

AUCKLAND, Last Night, (Special) . ' —Big fields are engaged for the midspring meeting of the Auckland Racing Club at Ellerslie tomorrow, and several scratchings would be required to obviate divisions in three events, the Melrose Hack Handicap, the Cambria Handicap (for two-year-olds) and the Ponui Handicap, the open mile. Unless the track dries up quickly, as it can do at times, the going will be j easy, if not actually soft. Quick March would be suited if the track were to dry out rapidly, under which circumstances Ke would be the logical favourite for the Alison Cup, but the going may be against him. Vice-Chancellor will appreciate it if the sting is out of the ground, and Maricrana, Swanee and Beau Astaire are three more that have fairly good prospects. Speedy improvers such as Cornishman and Parawera will make the topweights in the Cheltenham Handicap carry their imposts all the way. Regality and Super Vaals are now nearing winning turns, and Coonbridge, too, should reveal improvement. The return to racing of 10-year-old Sleepy j Fox may not go unrewarded.
