MISS MABEL HOWARD PREDICTS INDUSTRIAL UNREST FOR MR HOLLAND

CHRISTCHURCH, Yesterday (PA).—The trade unions were not going to be put back by a dictator like Sidney George Holland, said the Minister of Health, Miss M. Howard, last night, attacking his proposal to amend the law relating to union elections so that they should be conducted by the Electoral Department. “He does not want it under the Labour Department—why?” asked Miss Howard “Because the Electoral Department is immediately under the Prime Minister and Mr Holland wants to be a Stalin. He wants to conduct the annual elections ot trade unions. “If he does become Prime Minister he is going to have the biggest lot of industrial trouble it is possible to conceive,’’ added Miss Howard.
